Representation
There is an obvious lack of representation within web3. Starting with PFPs and escalating with avatars. We want to disrupt this by creating PFPs that represent the entire gender expression spectrum. We all know that feeling represented by your PFP can be really empowering. The characteristics of the PFP will later be translated into avatar features and wearables so that our community can also feel represented in the metaverse.
Community
There are still over 60 countries in the world where it is criminalized to be your most authentic self or love someone that doesn't fit society's mold. One of the incredible opportunities of web3 is to connect like-minded humans globally. The ability to have that community of kind and loving humans (regardless of their gender or sexuality) could truly change someone's life. Our goal is to create a welcoming community where people can come to learn, connect, ask questions, and have fun. This includes providing a welcoming place for our queer friendlys (our term for allies) and the family and friends of our LGBTQ+ youth.
Opportunity/Access/Allyship:
We get asked almost daily how people can be better allies in web3. We hear the terms inclusion and diversity in nearly every project description. We want to be the point of contact – point of access bridge between web3 opportunities and our community. Research has shown that companies with diverse team members have better retention, improved job satisfaction, greater profitability, and less spending on recruiting. We provide projects, companies, and brands access to a group of kind, diverse and resilient people while also allowing our community the chance to use their amazing voices and skillsets to help build the web3 we all dream of. What are your queer friends?
The queer friends family aims to not only represent but celebrate all of the incredible queerness that resides in each of us through art. Art has always been a place for all of us to feel free to express ourselves.
Throughout history, art has given voice to the oppressed, representation to the repressed, and exposed people to the truths, biases, and desires within themselves. Representation is integral for our youth to see both the beauty in themselves and appreciate the beauty of others.
